In 1934, Fry Communications, Inc. began as one of the first publishers in the nation producing a weekly shopping guide. Our small family operation focused on publishing that shopper for over thirty years.
Then Henry Fry, our current Chairman of the Board, purchased the company’s first offset press in 1967 and started printing the shopping guide. In 1970, we expanded into printing government and commercial materials. Within five years Fry became the largest federal contract printer in the country.
As our commercial non-heat printing grew, we continued to expand, investing in our first four-color heatset press. We began printing business-to-business catalogs and trade and consumer magazines in the early 1980s. As our “iron” grew in size and complexity, we added city and regional magazines, travel magazines and brochures, and consumer catalogs to our growing list of markets.
The Fry campus now comprises over 1.3 million square feet of manufacturing space. Inside those buildings are eighteen presses, over two dozen binders, an on-site co-mailing operation, a wide variety of auxiliary equipment, several new technologies, advanced systems and just over 800 employees.
A lot has changed since Fry started printing that small shopper 90 years ago, but our commitment to our customers and our colleagues is steadfast. Fry remains a privately-held, family-owned company that has the strong financial resources and intelligent innovations to ensure a bright future for all of us.
