July 2025 – National Tattoo Day

Did you know that the word tattoo is derived from the Polynesian word tatau? It means “to tap or mark.”

We made our mark on this beautiful henna tattoo using spot gloss on the bangle bracelets, soft touch on the rose and the model’s skin, and reticulation on the black background. For added emphasis, we embellished the jewels of the bracelets with raised gloss UV.

August 2025 – National Lighthouse Day

The first lighthouse in North America was built in 1596 in St. Augustine, Florida. Made of wood, it lasted for about a hundred years before being replaced.

To create long-lasting impacts in print, Fry offers a wide range of highly decorative effects. The foil and spot gloss adds shine to the tower’s light, while the embossing in the walkway and tower bring the scene to life. Detailed raised gloss UV adds texture and interest to the wooden slats and water.

September 2025 – National Blueberry Popsicle Day

In 1905, 11-year-old Frank Epperson left a stirring stick in a cup of flavored water overnight, and it froze. Nineteen years later, he received the patent for the “Epsicle ice pop” – and later renamed it Popsicle.

Amazing treatment pages are based on creating contrast between decorated elements. On this page, we applied matte film laminate to the entire image, then added raised gloss UV to the popsicle and popsicle stick in the foreground to create a high contrast, high impact effect.

October 2025 – National Name Your Car Day

Did you know that 51 percent of Millennial car owners (or lessees) have named their current car compared to 32 percent of Gen Xers and only 18 percent of Boomers? Don’t let your age stop you from trying new things, whether it’s naming your car or adding special effects to a special cover.

For this photo of a classic car, we added foil and spot gloss UV to the chrome bumper and trim.

November 2025 – National Saxophone Day

The saxophone was invented in the early 1840s by Adolphe Saxe, and this day commemorates his birthday. His patent, obtained in 1846, included 14 different versions of the saxophone.

In the same way, every image presents many options for embellishment. In this instance, we applied soft touch to the stucco walls, high gloss UV to the painted door and window trim on the house, and some detailed raised gloss UV to the saxophone.

December 2025 – National Pastry Day

The Crusaders brought the first pastries to Northern Europe upon their return from the Mediterranean. From there French and Italian chefs developed “puff” and “choux” pastries – like eclairs, Napoleons, and cream puffs – filled with creamy custards.

We “covered” our macarons with matte film laminate, then added embossing and raised gloss UV to create texture and contrast.

January 2026 – National Bird Day

Grab your binoculars and head outside to observe your local feathered friends. This day highlights conservation efforts of wild bird habitats throughout the world, so that all may experience seeing birds in their natural surroundings.

The soft touch of the feathers on the bird contrasts beautifully with the high gloss UV background. Glitter and raised UV in the ice on the branches add another layer of interest.

February 2026 – National Bubble Gum Day

In 2005, a children’s book author wanted a way to raise funds for school activities without the children having to sell something to family members, friends or neighbors. Her brainstorm? Kids paid for the chance to chew gum during school! It was an immediate hit.

Our big blue bubble is highlighted with raised UV. The foil and high gloss in the wallpaper of the scene add to the whimsy.

March 2026 – National Old Stuff Day

“Old stuff” means different things to different people. For some it means it’s time to get rid of things, while for others it means celebrating things you may have forgotten about.

We highlighted the beauty of these old tools by embossing them and adding a grit coating. The gloss UV on the lower picture provides some contrast.

April 2026 – National Orchid Day

With almost 26,000 different species of orchids worldwide, there’s bound to be one that appeals. There are over 200 species in North America alone.

Our orchids feature soft touch on the flower petals with raised UV veining, and a high gloss background to magnify the contrast.

May 2026 – National Skilled Trades Day

A day we especially celebrate! The first Wednesday in May highlights opportunities in the skilled trades, from the “fixers” like electricians and plumbers, to the “creators” like our own press and bindery crews.

Raised UV and gloss UV coatings add shine to our “Moving Printing Forward” motif.

June 2026 – World Reef Awareness Day

Coral reefs are aquatic ecological systems that provide a home for all sorts of unique and diverse plant and animal life under water. Around one quarter of all marine life species live on and around coral reefs, located where water meets land.

Select fish feature foil and gloss to help them pop against the matte film laminate background. An intricate pattern of raised gloss UV adds texture to the reef.

July 2026 – National Rain Day

In the late 1800s, a pharmacist in Waynesboro, PA, noticed that it always seemed to rain on July 29. So he started keeping records – and discovered that he was right! His brother took over the recordkeeping in the 1920s, and in the 1930s a journalist started sending out “Rain Day” stories from Waynesboro to other papers. And so, Rain Day began.

The gloss UV and raised gloss UV perfectly reflect the wet rain, while the reticulation on the frog depicts his bumpy yet shiny skin.

August 2026 – National Garage Sale Day

This day began in 2001 when a garage sale aficionado realized it could be a good thing to coordinate all summer garage sales into one day. Celebrate the day by checking out your neighborhood garage sales, or host your own.

Make sure your treasures shine like the glossed and foiled pan in the foreground. The clasps on the luggage showcase embossing as well as the foil and gloss, while reticulation on the wooden crates and picture frame bring out those textures.

September 2026 – National Punctuation Day

Proper punctuation saves lives. “Let’s eat Charlie” and “Let’s eat, Charlie” are NOT the same. Punctuation also draws attention to details within sentences – much like the foil on the exclamation points grabs attention.

Soft touch on the black background provides contrast to the embossed and glossed question mark as well as the glossed and foiled exclamation points.

October 2026 – International Coffee Day

Coffee drinking traces its origins back to the Arab world in the 15th century. Our current cultural obsession with all things coffee and coffee-related didn’t really begin until about fifty years ago when specialty coffee shops began appearing throughout the country.

Those baristas showed their skills in foamy patterns in the cup, highlighted here with raised gloss UV in the mug. Reticulation on the coffee beans mimics their texture and slight shine.

November 2026 – National Love Your Red Hair Day

Red hair has become a symbol of a fiery personality that is ruled by its passions, a strong-headed person who knows what they want and how to get it. Scotland actually has the highest percentage of redheads in its population, with Ireland a few percentage points behind.

We celebrated the beauty of this flaming red hair (and lips) with high-gloss UV coating. The black background uses reticulation to fade in importance and allows the glossy hair to pop.

December 2026 – National Wear Your Pearls Day

The small act of wearing pearls, whether real or simulated, is representative of the larger idea that every person has authentic beauty and value that should be placed on display rather than hidden.

The raised gloss UV on this string highlights each pearl, while the soft touch on the dog’s fur provides a tactile contrast to the gloss. Add reticulation on the pup’s tutu and this picture reflects the beautiful charm of wearing pearls.
